Mission

Our Mission

The American Lurcher Rescue Project, Inc. (“ALP”) is a 501(c)(3) all volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehoming, and welfare of racing American greyhound lurchers and greyhound mixes. We find responsible groups and/or homes when and, if appropriate, for retired racing greyhound lurchers and greyhound mixes that have been retired, or no longer wanted.

What We do

The American Lurcher Rescue Project is a team of dedicated volunteers who are concerned about the plight of the American Greyhound lurcher — the underdogs of Greyhound field trial racing. Our love for the retired racing Greyhounds has drawn us together to help greyhound lurchers who have often been forgotten. We hope to make a difference by helping greyhound mixes who have been abandoned or no longer wanted, and by also helping the racing American greyhound lurchers who have been retired and in need of new homes.

The ALP transports lurchers to adoption groups in the United States and Canada. We also provide all levels of medical care. Medical care includes: spay/neuter, vaccinations, Heartworm test, and de-wormings for every dog in our care.
